Chartley Farm is the Valentine Family Homestead since 1885, first belonging to Charles C. Valentine who built the house and barn. His grandson, Charles the second, refurbished the property in 1967, moving the barn and adding multiple outbuildings over the years. Ellen Valentine, his daughter, and her husband Dan Paquin, decided to bring back the farm in a completely organic way. The farm now houses 38 hens, 8 goats and two roosters, along with “Paint” the farm dog. We proudly grow organic fruits and vegetables, and our hens produce some of the finest eggs you can find. We feed them an omnivore diet of soy-free organic seeds and grains, along with insects, worms and organic produce. We are working towards breeding our goat does and using their organic milk in our own raw-milk dairy and cheese production. In the future we are striving to open a year-round farm store featuring foods from the farm, essential oil products, artisan crafts, herbal items, and organic and gluten-free baked goods and preserves. We also sell organic hay bales as livestock feed and hope to become a distributor for Scratch and Peck feeds, which is the brand we use to feed our hens.
